Ifac becomes Ireland’s first B Corp Certified professional services firm

We are delighted to announce that we are now B Corp Certified, making us the first professional services firm in the country to achieve this certification. Companies that are B Corp Certified meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. March is also #BCorpMonth to celebrate the collective impact of the work of B Corps around the world.

Becoming B Corp certified is a major milestone in our commitment to building a more sustainable future. Find out more about our sustainability journey.

B Lab - the network transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet – conducted the B Impact Assessment to measure ifac’s social and environmental impact resulting in its B Corp Certification.

This recognises that ifac is a force for good and is among a group of over 50 businesses in Ireland that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. It is both a fitting milestone in the firm’s 50th year and a commitment from the firm’s teams in over 30 offices across the country to do business differently.

This thorough process evaluated ifac’s business model across five key areas:

  • Governance including the firm’s mission and ethics

  • The impact on employees including financial security, wellness, and career development

  • The impact on the communities in which ifac operates including economic impact, civic engagement, and charitable giving

  • The impact on ifac’s comprehensive environmental management practices

  • The impact on ifac’s clients including the quality of services, ethical marketing, and feedback channels.

To maintain their certification, companies must undertake the assessment and verification process every three years, demonstrating they are still meeting B Lab’s evolving standards.

John Donoghue, CEO of ifac said:

“At Ifac, we’re more than just one of the country’s largest professional services firms—we’re unique in many ways. Our people, our culture, and our client centered approach set us apart, and we push ourselves to improve every single day.

As a firm deeply rooted in local communities, we believe business can be a powerful force for good. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to be the first professional services firm in Ireland to achieve B Corp Certification—a testament to our commitment to social and environmental responsibility.

Earning this certification was a true team effort, but it’s just the beginning. As part of the global B Corp community, we’re dedicated to continuous improvement, ensuring that as we grow, we do so responsibly and sustainably.”

Dr Rosie O’Neill, Director of Sustainability at ifac said:

“Across the entire agrifood value chain, from ideation to finished product, we are seeing a rise in the need for guidance on sustainability strategies and reporting from our clients, helping them to meet the demands of customers within their supply chains.

“At ifac, we help businesses to stay competitive, reduce costs, minimise waste, and improve efficiencies. One such example is by calculating scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and implementing effective carbon reduction plans. With environmental responsibility now a crucial factor in building and promoting a brand, we are also helping businesses to integrate sustainability into their marketing strategies. And we are delighted to be part of the B Corp community”
